The coastline of Thanet is rapidly retreating due to intensified storms and rising sea levels. This project proposes a maritime museum and microharbour that archive maritime heritage and support carbon-neutral shipping, responding to erosion as both threat and narrative. Lightweight structures are delicately placed along a grid system over the shifting chalk cliffs, recording and engaging with coastal change. The architecture acts as a scientific instrument, measuring two simultaneous timelines: the slow retreat of the coastline and the faster cycles of tide and weather. In section, the building becomes a datum to observe erosion; in plan and elevation, it tracks the shifting sediment and climatic effects through light and shadow. Ultimately, the proposal seeks to blur past and future, offering a living archive of coastal identity.
